Zarephath, NJ, April 30, 2007 —Somerset Christian College is pleased to announce that two new degrees have been added to the program offerings at Somerset Christian College (SCC) starting Fall 2008.

In their regular monthly meeting on April 25, 2008, The New Jersey Commission on Higher Education unanimously adopted a resolution allowing Somerset Christian College to begin offering the following degrees in the fall semester of 2008:

  • Bachelor of Arts in Christian Counseling
  • Bachelor of Arts in Organizational Leadership

The addition of these new degrees at the college will continue to enhance the current program offerings allowing both current and future students many advantages as they pursue their educational goals and seek employment past graduation.

The Bachelor of Arts in Christian Counseling is designed to provide students with the basic foundations for any kind of counseling, spiritual formation or mentoring ministry. You may choose to build on this foundation with further education and/or training specific to an area in which you choose to specialize, such as pursuing a Masters Degree allowing you to become a State Licensed Professional Counselor. Upon successful completion of this program you will find yourself prepared to either pursue further education or begin a lay helping ministry in a variety of settings.

The Bachelor of Arts in Christian Counseling emphasizes three main things:

  • Acquiring the knowledge or the principles that are foundational to counseling
  • Growing in relationships with God and others for greater effectiveness with helping others
  • Cultivating basic strategies and skill-sets necessary to do counseling in a variety of contexts.

The Bachelor of Arts in Organizational Leadership embraces a Christian worldview and encompasses the full array of organizational management and leadership curricula including introduction to organizational leadership, marketing, management/administration, finance, strategic planning, and theories of leadership.

Graduates of the Organizational Leadership major will have:

  • Developed basic knowledge and skills for careers in churches, non-profit ministries and for profit ministries.
  • The foundational knowledge and skills necessary for designing, implementing, and leading a program, ministry, or organizational idea.
  • Acquired foundational knowledge of leadership fundamentals which enables graduates to apply them to actual ministry settings and pursue advanced degree.
