The mission of the Instructional Resource Center (IRC) is to support classroom instruction and educational skills development for the Pillar College learning community. The Instructional Resource Center seeks to encourage students by identifying skill needs and providing appropriate remedial help. Through these means, the IRC contributes to the achievement of the educational goals of the Pillar mission. The IRC at Pillar College provides tutoring, study skills training, and other focused support to assist all Pillar students in their education and

faith formation journeys. Areas of assistance include the following:

  • Rhetoric, literary criticism, and literature
  • Editing & Proofreading
  • Bible concordance, commentary, text
  • Biblical and theological reflection
  • Sermon preparation
  • Grammar
  • Modern Language Association style guide and research techniques
  • Study guides and strategies including test-taking skills and writing strategies
  • Close reading skills
  • Life skills including time management and managing stress
  • Resume Writing
  • Interview Preparation
  • Approaches to personal nurture
  • Literature on Multicultural Ministerial Leadership
  • Practical Approaches to Multicultural Worship
  • A Christian E-Zine and music links

Office Hours:

Mondays & Fridays: by appointment only
Tuesdays: 11 am - 5pm, Wednesdays: 12 pm - 6pm, Thursdays: 11 am - 5pm
